Vehicle Immobilisers FAQs

What security measures do immobilisers include?

Most immobiliser systems will come with a key fob or tag, connected to another sensor installed in your vehicle. You will need to hold your key fob in close proximity to the car when unlocking it or when starting the engine – without it, the vehicle won’t recognise you as the owner and will not follow your commands.

Some immobilisers, like the Autowatch Ghost II Immobiliser, also allow you to set a unique PIN code sequence using buttons in your vehicle – no PIN, no start!

Modern immobilisers also come with various enhancements, such as real-time location tracking and tilt sensors (which detect whether your vehicle is being towed or if a wheel is being stolen).

Do you provide insurance-approved immobilisers?

Yes, our products are Thatcham-approved. Check the specifications for each product for more details.

What car immobiliser brands do you stock?

At Motorguard, we stock vehicle immobilisers from industry giants such as Autowatch, Cobra, Pandora, and Sterling.

Why are vehicle immobilisers good?

A car might be one of the largest financial investments you’ll make, so giving it all the protection it needs is a must.

Car immobilisers help reduce the risk of car theft, no matter if you’re a victim of hot wiring, hacking, and key theft. With immobilisers, you can be certain your vehicle won’t start unless you are present. You will have greater confidence in the security of your vehicle, allowing you to travel around without worry.

Some insurance companies may even offer discounts if your car has a fitted immobiliser, as it is a sign of lower theft claim risk.

Are immobilisers 100% foolproof?

Immobilisers are thought to be industry standards for vehicle theft prevention. However, they can only be as effective as their installation. Motorguard offers professional installation for all immobilisers we sell, so you can rest assured you’re getting the most out of your product.
