Frequently Asked Questions

What is a crossover used for in audio?

A crossover functions as a filter, keeping unwanted frequencies from reaching the speaker. This is really useful since it enables us to feed each speaker a specific set of frequencies that it will play the most effectively and efficiently. Tweeters, woofers and subs should get high, mid and low frequencies respectively. As a consequence, the volume potential and dynamic capabilities of the sound system substantially increase.

Does a crossover improve sound quality?

Yes. Based on the frequency response of each speaker and the design of the speaker cabinet, the frequency point and gain curves are designed to have the maximum influence on sound quality.

Do you need a crossover for a subwoofer?

If your car's audio system employs coaxial speakers, you do not need an additional crossover. This is because full-range coaxial speakers already have built-in, so the frequencies that reach each driver are already filtered. If, however, you want to design a system that includes component speakers, several amplifiers, and subwoofers, you'll usually need one or more crossovers.
